Strengthening the involvement of people with Dementia - a resource for implementation
Added on 17/10/2008
The nature of dementia means that it is not always easy to communicate with people who have it. This has led to the widely held assumption that people with dementia are not capable of expressing their views or making decisions. However, people with dementia want to be heard. With sufficient care and support, they can identify and communicate their individual needs and preferences. It is important, therefore, that all individuals working with people who have dementia have the skills and knowledge to communicate effectively. This publication provides guidance on how to implement an approach to involving people with dementia.
