Direct payments for health care consultation: presentations from third sector event

On 6 January 2010, the Department of Health held a consultation and learning event for third sector organisations to share views about how direct payments should work in practice. Some of the issues covered on the day included care planning, information advice and support, balancing risk taking and safeguarding for patients, monitoring and review.
The Government consultation on proposals for piloting direct payments for health care is part of the wider pilot programme to explore personal health budgets.
