Direct payments for health care: information for pilot sites published
16/07/2010
Direct payments for health care are monetary payments made by primary care to individuals to allow them to purchase the care they need. They are one mechanism for delivering personal health budgets, and are one of a number of tools for making the National Health Service more personalised and patient centred.
"Direct payments for health care: information for pilot sites" has just been published by the Department of Health. The document gives clear advice to help sites in the DH personal health budgets pilot programme meet the regulatory requirements for direct payments. It also includes some ideas and information about best practice when delivering direct payments. Nine sites in the personal health budgets pilot programme have now been awarded powers to offer direct payments.
