- Government places renewed emphasis in integration
Further to the Green Paper on the future of care and support in England, the government have published its White Paper, Building the National Care Service. This sets out the vision and commitment for establishing a National Care Service and places significant focus on greater integration, partnership working and collaboration within health and social care economies. - Integrated Care Pilots Update
We are continuing to promote the new extended community announced on 2nd February 2010 by Care Services Minister Phil Hope and Health Minister Mike O' Brien. We are looking for ambitious and innovative projects to join the extended community of integrated care. New sites will be able to join the community by completing and submitting the self-assessment tool found on the integrated care pilot's webpage on the DH website. - Government restates expectations for Putting People First
The Department of Health has written to councils restating what progress is expected on Putting People First in 2010-11. The new local authority circular states that councils must make personal budgets available to all eligible people with ongoing care and support needs. It highlights sources of advice and guidance which can help councils to achieve the Putting People First milestones, including the new guidance on eligibility. - Minister of State for Care Services Phil Hope speaks to the Guardian
Phil Hope took the opportunity of his visit to Tower Drive day care Centre in Milton Keynes, where the Primary Care Trust and Milton Keynes Council social care combine to provide a full range of services, to talk about the importance of integration and personalisation for a sustainable Social Care programme in which people are able to live independently for as long as possible. - The State of Care in England
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has released it's annual report on the state of health and adult social care in England. CQC point out that services will be operating in a different environment in future, with pressure on finances adding to continuing increases in demand and rising expectations. It said that the next big challenge for health and social care is to accelerate efforts to make services more joined up and centred around people's needs.
