The direction of national policy for people with learning disabilities is to enable individuals to live as independently as possible and in ordinary housing rather than institutional care. Some people with learning disabilities will need regular support with aspects of their lives such as daily living skills. This may include cooking and budgeting, as well as accessing work or training opportunities and social activities.
